Camden Summer Sounds
In the summer of 2020, during the pandemic, the town of Camden decided to give the community some live entertainment in the fresh air. Partnering Camden Parks and Recreation and Camden Opera House staff and volunteers, Camden Summer Sounds was created and an apres concert was scheduled. For $10 each, or $25 for groups of three or more, musicians were spaced out around the deck at the Snow Bowl and "pods" of masked spectators were situated in blocks on the hillside to allow for at least 6-feet of space between parties. The following August, two concerts were scheduled and admission was free.
In 2022, Camden Summer Sounds became a "thing" and now free apres concerts are being held each Sunday in August.
This summer the tradition continues with The Right Track (Aug. 4), Primo Cubano (Aug. 11), Billy Wylder (Aug. 18) and Midnight Breakfast (Aug. 25). Concerts are from 4 to 6 p.m., BYO seating and picnic, and if rain is in the forecast, a decision is made by 5 p.m. the day before whether to move to the Opera House.
Summer Sounds community concerts are free and seating at the Snow Bowl is on the grass, so bring a blanket or lawn chair, family and friends, something cool to drink and tasty to nibble on and enjoy the show. Dancing is encouraged, so wear easy-off shoes and let your toes feel the grass while your spirit feels the music.
